A Shimenawa was hung on the entrance of Hotaka station today.

A Shimenawa is a twisted  straw rope , decorated with fern leaves

and other items said to bring good fortune during the New Year holidays.

It serves as a charm against evil spirits and marks the beginning of

the New Year preparations.
