Would you like to see a collection of beautiful old Japanese paintings ?

At Ariakeyama shrine in Azumino , there are 81 paintings by 31 different

painters , that date back to 1902 .

They are in the Kaguraden to the left of the Main Shrine ,

and interestingly … all of them … are on the ceiling !!

Each one has a different theme …including flowers , fruits , animals and

nature.

Why not take a look during the Ariakeyama Shrine Festival , from the 27th

to the 29th of April ?

You can look these paintings from 9am to 5pm.

The shrine is around 7.5 km from Hotaka Station , so it’s a little far to walk ,

but if you come to Hotaka Station on 29th you can take the Circular Bus –

there ‘s a stop near to the Shrine .
